Southwestern University, or SU, for short, is a private, four-year, undergraduate, liberal arts college located in Georgetown, which is a city in the US state of Texas, serving as the county seat of Williamson County, with a population of more than 28 300 inhabitants, at the time of the 2000 census.
The university was established in 1840 and it is the oldest university in the state. It is affiliated with the United Methodist Church (although the curriculum is nonsectarian), and offers its students 27 majors and pre-professional & certification programs in medicine, law, education, engineering, theology, and does not offers graduate degrees or programs.
SU's athletic teams are known as the Pirates and they compete in NCAA Division III, SCAC. Their distinctive colors are gold and black.
